I wish I could say I wasn't prepared to lose you. But in our line of work, we always had to be prepared. Tomorrow is not promised to anyone, and that was something he knew well.

Mack and I had a rough start. We met under tense circumstances, and those moments never really stopped for too long. But in the in-between, when things were quiet, we had our time. And it was precious to be with him. Even if he couldn't keep up, he sprinted. Even if he didn't understand, he tried to. And that is what I loved most about him.
